PRESS RELEASE — Berlin, Germany — Native Instruments today announced Komplete 13, the latest generation of its flagship production suite, with new additions including some of the company’s biggest releases from the last two years. The launch will coincide with that of Guitar Rig 6 Pro, a revamped version of Native’s amp and effects modeling lab.

For 17 years, Komplete has brought the very best from Native Instruments into a comprehensive production package for artists of every level and genre. Komplete 13 is the biggest collection yet, and is available in four sizes; Select, Komplete 13, Ultimate, and Collector’s Edition.

Komplete 12 Guitar Rig

The latest generation sees some of Native Instrument’s biggest new releases join the lineup, including Guitar Rig 6 Pro, Cremona Quartet (including Stradivari Violin), Arkhis, Pharlight, Straylight, Mysteria, Super 8, Session Guitarist – Electric Sunburst Deluxe, and Noire.

The latest version also includes the Crush Pack, which puts a modern spin on distortion effects, as well as last year’s much-loved Raum reverb.

Guitar Rig 6 Pro returns with an overhauled interface, new amps, new effects, and Intelligent Circuit Modeling – a new machine-learning modeling technology that can bring even deeper realism to hardware emulations.

The technology has already been used to create a new series of iconic boutique and vintage amps, each offering plenty of character and tone to be explored. Users will also be able to pitch in and help decide what kind of hardware should be modelled for future updates.

The latest version also extends the platform’s capacity as a powerful effects rack for any audio source with 14 new additions from Native’s wider ecosystem – including Reverb Classics, Vintage Compressors, Crush Pack, Mod Pack, Solid Mix Series, Transient Master, Raum, Rammfire, and Traktor’s 12.

Native Instruments Komplete Bundle receives every two years a major update and always in September. The last was in September 2018 with Komplete 12 including Kontakt 6, Massive X in 2019, and more. So it is logical that the year 2020 will again be dominated by a new Komplete Bundle. NI has today released a preview of the upcoming Komplete 13 update with a planned release on October 1st. Unfortunately, it will not be a major Synthesizer update, rather one for effect and soundtrack fans.

The highlight of Komplete 13 will be a revamped and redesigned Guitar Rig 6 Pro with new amps, effects, and ways to manipulate your sound. The predecessor not only worked great as an effects processor on guitars but also nicely on hard- or software synthesizers. With the new effects content, GRP6 will be more versatile and flexible.

GR6Pro comes with a fresh look that features scalable, clean & easy-to-use interface making creativity with audio processing even more intuitive. Compared to the GR5Pro, definitely a big update that fits into 2020. The new version is based on a new intelligent circuit modeling technology (ICM) newly developed by Native that uses cutting-edge machine learning technology to reproduce the behavior of hardware devices from the ground up, giving a whole new level of depth and realism to our amp emulations.

Cool, NI will work closely with the community to discover new hardware and bring it to GR6Pro with regular updates. There is no kind of matching technology like Positive Grid, which is a shame. On the content side, it includes three newly modeled boutique and vintage amps as well as 14 new effects from Native and Softube.

New Effects & One New Synthesizer

Guitar Rig 6 Pro is the only new effect plugin in K13. With RAUM Reverb (free during Christmas) and Crush Pack, four new effect plugins will join the Komplete bundle. For friends of synthesizers, there is the Super 8, an eight-voice polyphonic Synthesizer ensemble for Reaktor 6 designed for warm analog-style sounds and new expansions for Massive X.

New Sample-Based Content

A Komplete update without GBs of new sample content doesn’t exist. This also applies to the new Native Instruments Komplete 13 that comes with many new and already published libraries for Kontakt. It ranges from new orchestral content up to big atmospheric libraries using granular synthesis. It includes:

Cremona Quartet: four ultra-rare string instruments from the world’s most renowned luthiers, meticulously sampled at their home in Cremona, Italy.
Arkhis: a cutting-edge, contemporary orchestral layering engine for big-screen shine on tap.
Noire: the signature sound of Nils Frahm’s evocative concert grand, captured at its home in Berlin’s Funkhaus complex.
Mysteria: a cinematic performance instrument for ethereal and arcane choral textures.
Pharlight: a vocal-based granular instrument that brings boutique sample content and cunning sound-design to a powerful granular engine. Suited to both cinematic and musical melodies, pads, and soundscapes.
Session Guitarist: Electric Sunburst Deluxe: a powerful, expanded version of the popular playable electric guitar that’s perfect for contemporary productions.

The Play Series, which are loved by many because of its excellent ready-to-use sounds, have also received an update. Butch Vig Drums, Lo-Fi Glow, Modular Icons, and Cloud Supply join the Komplete 13 Play Series roundup.

At first glance, it looks like a nice update for Komplete. As already said: less an update for Synthesizer friends but more for fans of sample libraries & Guitar Rig Pro. Interesting observation: Komplete 13 will still be available as a full purchase and not a subscription model.

Native Instruments Komplete 13 will be available in four different versions on October 1st, 2020 starting at 199€ for K13 Select. Upgrades & crossgrades will be available for existing Komplete users.
